Carr Kelsey, DVM (Owner), Dr. Kelsey has family roots in Collierville dating back to the 1800’s. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Auburn University, and is a 1999 graduate of Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife Fran are active members of Grace Evangelical Church with their children Carrington, Ainsley, and Knox. Dr. Kelsey’s canine family members are Charlie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and Shih Tzu littermates Cam and Lucy. His passions away from the clinic include spending time with his family, reading, and the outdoors.
Dr. Lacey Rush, a Germantown native, earned a bachelor’s in zoology and masters in molecular biology at Auburn University before earning her doctorate of veterinary medicine at the University of Tennessee. War Eagle and go Vols! She practiced general and emergency medicine in North Carolina before recently moving to Collierville with her family and numerous fur-babies. Dr. Rush is very passionate about working with clients to involve them in making good medicinal and preventative care decisions for their dogs. It’s a joint effort! Her other areas of interest include: emergency and critical care, anesthesia and pain management, metabolic and endocrine disorders, and abdominal ultrasonography. Her favorite dog breed (though they are all fabulous in their own way) is the pug- their gregarious personalities and numerous wrinkles make “smooching” them irresistible to Dr. Rush. Outside of work, Dr Rush enjoys running, competing in triathlons and spending time with her family.
Dr. Trudy Shapiro Dunlap holds a BS in Nutrition from the University of Memphis, in Memphis, Tennessee. She completed a rotating nutrition internship at The University of Arkansas for Medical Science and the VA Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dr. Dunlap practiced as a Registered Dietitian with advanced certification in Nutritional Support in critical care and trauma. After practicing several years at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tennessee, Dr Dunlap made the decision to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She felt this was a way to marry two passions – medicine and animals. Dr. Dunlap went on to earn her DVM from Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Dunlap has practiced small animal medicine in Collierville and more recently in Downtown and Midtown Memphis. Dr. Dunlap completed advanced training in acupuncture from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine including surgery, critical care, and internal medicine. Some of her favorite patients are the geriatric old souls. The decision to return to her roots practicing medicine in Collierville, Tennessee was an easy one because she knows the community is so welcoming and the Kelsey Canine Medical Center is top notch. Dr. Dunlap lives on a small farm surrounded with horses, goats, chickens, geese and a special turkey named George. She is married to Alex and has 2 children, Hannah and Will, who happen to be twins (same litter). Her best friend is Sunny, her Border Collie mix.
Robin Bennett grew up in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, has a degree in Early Childhood Development, and also studied Business Management. She accepted the position of Practice Manager at Kelsey Canine in September of 2017, having spent considerable time in veterinary consulting and management. Robin is a certified obedience trainer, and she and husband David have owned a variety of businesses together over the years. They moved here from South Carolina and now make their home in Oakland. Robin and David have 2 sons, 3 grandchildren, and a Biewer Terrier they call Nala Jean.
Jamie Harmon, LVMT is a graduate of Mississippi State, and has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician since 2013. She and her husband Ben are both originally from this area, and moved back in 2015, shortly before Jamie accepted a position at Kelsey Canine. Jamie is currently our Lead Technician. In their spare time, she and Ben enjoy wakeboarding at the lake, and 4-wheeling. They have 2 dogs named Bailey (Dalmatian) and Gryndal (French Bulldog), and a cat named Oscar.
Jessica Hilsgen, LVMT attended Mississippi State University and accepted a technician position at Kelsey Canine after graduating from the university’s Veterinary Technology program in 2016. Jessica received her state technician license in August 2016. She has a Dachshund mix named Tucker and cat named Maru; new puppy Ripley joined the family in early 2017. In her time away from work, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family and doing anything outdoors, especially camping and canoeing.
Whitney Patterson, CVT is a Tennessee native who has been working in the veterinary field since 2009, while she was still in high school. She got her certification as a Veterinary Technician from Penn Foster College in 2012, and joined the Kelsey Canine team in 2017. Whitney has a special interest in geriatric veterinary medicine, and loves our senior patients! At home, she has 2 cats and a Rottweiler mix named Sutter. In her spare time, Whitney enjoys 4-wheeling, hunting, and fishing.
Jennifer Ward, LVMT has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician since 2004. Although the veterinary profession as a whole is her heart, her favorite areas to practice are dentistry and orthopedics. She and her husband Carey are avid Mississippi State fans, and will celebrate 10 years of marriage in 2018. Together, they have one two-legged child (a son, Luke) and two four-legged children (dogs, Meat and HollyBug). If Jennifer is not working on a Saturday, you will find the whole family water skiing at Pickwick Lake.
Avian Sullivan moved to Hernando, Mississippi from Dallas, Texas along with her husband, Wesley, and their two children, Zoe and Jaxon. While her VS degree is in Psychology, her passion and work experience has almost solely been in veterinary medicine, as a Technician assistant. Avian’s family is further completed by their cats, Marley and Hobbes, and their time together is spent outside grilling and working on their new home.
Frank Brown is a Memphis native and graduated from Central High School, where he was a scholarly football and track & field standout. He attended the University of Tennessee-Knoxville where he acquired his B.S. in Animal Science, minor in Food & Agricultural Business. He has been in the veterinary field for 13 years as a veterinary assistant and veterinary technician. Frank joined the Kelsey Canine family in July of 2018. Outside of work, Frank enjoys time with family and friends; time with his dog Polo; hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and collecting cars as a Volvo enthusiast!
Caroline Richardson graduated from Mississippi State with a degree in Veterinary Technology and is a licensed veterinary technician. She is from Olive Branch, MS and is currently residing in Memphis, TN. Caroline has a Chocolate Labrador called “Harper” and Caroline says Harper is her whole heart. In her spare time she enjoys shopping and finding fun things to do in and around Memphis. Caroline is a recent graduate and new to the veterinary world and says “I’m loving every minute of it!”
Kristi Leech, is a Colorado native, but spent time living in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Delaware in her childhood years. She loves Colorado the best but enjoys food a lot so Memphis cookin’ ain’t too bad! Kristi grew up around animals but developed an extra special fondness for dogs when she began rescue and foster work in the Memphis area in 2015. She says, “It’s truly the most rewarding thing I could ever do.” Kristi and her husband, Adam, are parents to several fur babies, most of whom are “Memphis mutts” that they foster-failed and fell in love with. She and Adam also enjoy cooking together and spending time with their friends and family.Scottie Key Watson joins the Kelsey Canine team as our Social Media & Marketing Director. Scottie has a professional background in fashion, marketing, and journalism and has been an avid volunteer in Memphis’s local dog rescue community for the past 10 years. She’s excited to combine her professional expertise with her passion and love for dogs with us at Kelsey Canine.
Aubrey English is a Collierville native who is currently in school at Collierville High. Aubrey loves taking her rescue dog, Rudy, on hikes and enjoys singing and acting in her spare time. Aubrey is pursuing a career in veterinary medicine and is excited to gain experience and knowledge by working with Kelsey Canine.
